In a terse statement, the police department identified the alleged killer as Angelo Maldonado, 39, of the 3900 block of Claridge St. in Juniata. He was arrested on Aug. 11.

The slaying occurred on Aug. 8 on the 7300 block of Revere St. just before 3 a.m. Police found Ewing, 21, of the 7600 block of Hartel Ave., in the street with stab wounds of the chest and torso. He was taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale hospital, where he died at 3:28 a.m.

Previously, police have said that Ewing was walking on Revere Street when a pickup truck pulled up and a man exited it, stabbing Ewing repeatedly then fleeing. Ewing had left the nearby Owen’s Cafe on Cottman Avenue with friends a short time earlier. Police have not commented on whether the victim and suspect had contact prior to the stabbing. ••
